went to italy from 10.12 - 10.17 for a friend's wedding. i will never travel without a Rick Steve's book again.
Day 1 - Milan
- Read Dan Brown's Angels & Demons on the plane.
- Took a 50 min bus (Malpensa Express) to downtown.
- Stayed at the Starhotels Anderson (will definitely stay here if I ever go to Milan again)
- Got ripped off by a gypsy at the train station
- Ate lunch @ Pastarito Pizzarito (great place)
- Window shopping in Montenapoleone area
- Ate gelato
- Had dinner at a "self-serve" cafeteria-style place near the train station (ghetto, but good)
- Took the 8am train to Florence (delayed)
- Stayed at Hotel Columba (ghetto but clean)
- Went shopping (fake bags everywhere) and ate gelato at Vivoli's ("the best gelato in the world"). I had rice flavor.
- Tim bought white Oakleys, I bought Patrizia Pepe shoes.
- Alex & Christine's wedding. Beautiful!! See pics.
- Took the 9am train to Venice to meet Tim's mom (she was on vacation there, by chance)
- Difficulties transferring to the San Lucia station
- Long (1hr?) water bus ride to San Marco
- Met Tim's mom and Louise, ate a bad lunch at Le Chat Qui Rit, and walked around the shops
- Pizza to go and gelato
- Had to take a late train (8pm) because they were sold out.
- McDonalds
- This was an accident, and doubled the cost of our trip. We didn't get the wakeup call so we missed our flight. Make sure the RINGER on the phone is on the plus sign.
- Ate pizza, yogurt, and fruit from the supermercado in the train station.
- Got ripped off by the photo booth
- Only good thing about this day - found an awesome restaurant - a Mozzarella bar!! - Obika
- Flew home.
- Read Dan Brown's Digital Fortress on the plane.
