i'm looking for a good gymboree-type class on the weekends. anyone have any ideas? i live in santa clara, but i could go up as far as palo alto area.
sorry i've been neglecting this blog.... tim and i are working on a website right now, and it includes a journal feature, so i've been writing in my journal there (we don't have sharing working yet) and blogging there too. i'll write more about it when we're done developing it. :)
lately, brandon has been doing the following things:
- learned how to share food... so sweet!... but also learned how to *pretend* to share the food, and then take it away right as you lean in for a bite! omg. SO BAD. i couldn't believe my eyes when he was cracking up because of this. he also makes this really cute "naughty face" when he's doing it.
- waving really well - both with the whole arm sometimes, and sometimes with and open-closed-open-closed hand. so cute.
- able to give kisses! i love this. however, he also knows when he doesn't want to give kisses, and can push your face out of the way. :( so sad.
- standing for quite a while on his own - best when he's holding something to disctract him. he hasn't taken any independent steps yet, though. he can crawl all over the place, so he doesn't really feel the need to walk around.
- likes to drink out of a water bottle... see video
- he has 8 teeth now - 4 on top, 4 on bottom
i also wrote 25 random things about brandon:
- your favorite stuffed animal is kody the dog (from kristie, from pbk). your favorite non-stuffed toy is the wooden rolling toy (from grandma, from pbk).
- you love lights and ceiling fans. you even make an open-closed-open-closed hand when you see them.
- you love pushing buttons - light switches, door bells, phone buttons, keyboards, any buttons.
- you can give kisses now!
- you like to play peek-a-boo where i hide under the sheets and you lift up the sheets.
- you poo standing up
- you love water - water fountains, baths, sinks, whenever you hear water, you want to go see it.
- your eyes were gray/blue when you were born, and now they are hazel-ish. babycenter says they should stay this way.
- you still sleep with us. :)
- you are still breastfeeding (mostly at night and to fall asleep for naps).
- you don't like getting your face wiped after you eat, unless it's a warm soft towel.
- you can say dadada, some b sounds, some j sounds, but mostly you like to say dadada.
- you love the vacuum - you love to watch daddy vacuum and you even love the vacuum when it's not turned on. you like the hose, you try to sit on the base, and you try to stand up with the beater.
- you love to watch tv and youtube on the computer. you like cartoons, elmo, swedish chef, and thomas the train.
- you have a huge head - just like daddy! haha. ok, mommy has a big head too.
- you have been wearing size 6 diapers for many months now. there's only 1 size bigger!
- you haven't met a veggie you don't like - carrots, broccoli, zucchini. i'm gonna gook you beets tonight! :)
- not so much on the fruits though. bananas are ok, but you didn't immediately like strawberries, blueberries, mangos, or applesauce.
- you are a regular at benihana and yuki sushi. you eat tofu and avocado (and sometimes salmon now).
- you don't like when things are organized? when blocks are stacked up, you will knock them down immediately and mess them around.
- you don't like your nails cut, but they grow so fast so i have to cut them all the time. i cut them when you're sleeping and you don't even notice.
- you like to spin things
- you are so smart! (i'm sure every mommy says this) you are really good at copying things we do. you learned kiss in 1 day!
- you like to play "mama's coming to get ya!" while daddy is holding you. you scream and squeal like crazy. it's so cute.
- your favorite songs are itsy bitsy spider, wheels on the bus, frere jacques, alouette. your favorite books are b is for bear, f is for farm, tails, and your truck book.
i think i slept wrong or something, but my neck is in a TON of pain right now. i've had this problem before, but it's never been this bad. i woke up, tried to sit up, and started crying / whimpering (because crying was too painful). tim told me to get in the shower to warm it up, but that didn't help. i took a bunch of motrin, but that hasn't helped. i tried mild stretching, didn't help. tim drove me to work, and i busted out crying again when he took the ramp to the freeway. OMG.
i can't pick up my laptop bag, i can't walk to the bathroom, i can't do ANYTHING. i couldn't even chew my meat today at lunch.
anyway, let me know if you have any suggestions! i'm going to go home and try a heating pad.
i can't decide if it would be selfish of me to:
a - stay at work so we can continue our lifestyle, save for the future, and have time alone at work
or
b - stay at home and quit work to be with brandon
i want to do what's best for brandon. is that saving money so we can buy him a big house with a yard and lots of toys and send him to a good school? or is it staying home with him so he can eat and sleep and be with his mama?
my boss said if we can afford it, i should quit now because that's when brandon needs me. in a few years, he will go to preschool and then i can work again. that sounds reasonable to me. but then my dad asked if we saved up enough money for brandon later, and said that they are doing fine with him during the day. i don't know what to do!!
another thing is that tim and i are both super tired from the commute (up to 1 hr each way). will we just adjust and get used to it? or is it getting worse each day? should we move closer to my parents and i'll keep working?
tired, exhausted, zombie, can't think, headache, too much work at work, too much work at home, 1 hour (each way) commute to pick up brandon at the end of the day...

omg, he's growing so fast!! i am kinda sad that he is growing up so fast - i just want to freeze time right now. i love him just the way he is! pretty soon, he'll be lots of trouble, running around, destroying things, eating us out of house and home. anyway, it's been a crazy 6 months, and i'm so glad that i was able to stay home for the first 6 months. now i'm at work, and i miss him soooooo much.
this is what my life has become.... anyway, here's a coupon for those others of you who have also given up your clothes/handbag/shoe shopping for baby shopping. :)
i'm supposed to go back to work on tuesday, and i'm freaking out. i don't know if i can do it! i've already taken off way more time than i originally had planned, but i am still not ready!! i gave brandon 2.4 million kisses so far today and lots of hugs. i'm gonna miss him SOOOO much. i've only ever been away from him twice - one night while we went to a wedding, and for 30 minutes when i went to safeway while tim watched him. what am i going to do??
we'll see how my mom does watching him. i don't think she planned on watching him for 5 days a week either, but she has never even done one full day, so we'll see what happens. eeeeeek!!!
